We started off on a short hike first thing in the morning at 7 am. Once again, we saw a beautiful landscape and got a taste of the Kimberlys.
When we wanted to leave, our car wouldn't start. We jumped the battery and Padi checked a few things. Then we drove straight to the nearest town, Kununurra. At the border between the Northern Territory and Western Australia, we had to go through a border control. There, we had to throw away all fruits and vegetables. We just kept the engine running. In town, we visited an auto repair shop where Padi's suspicion was confirmed. One of the battery cells had broken. We now have a new battery designed for off-road driving.
We hope that we can continue the road trip without any further issues and that we only had starting problems.
We spent the afternoon at a camping ground with a pool and tomorrow we will head to the Gibb River Road. We also have to get used to the time difference - with the border crossing, we went back in time by 1.5 hours. The sun set at 5 pm and it was dark by 6 pm. However, tomorrow it is supposed to be bright at 5 am.
