Around 400,000 balls are produced annually in Monguí
2,000 people depend directly on the ball industry. There are 17 ball factories or workshops in Monguí, 7 large ones and 10 small ones.
Three types of balls are produced in this municipality: stitched, vulcanized, and heat-sealed. A large part of the Monguí factories work on vulcanized balls.
The Ladino Agudelo brothers were the pioneers of the ball industry in Monguí in the 1930s.
They taught the local farmers how to sew balls and created a new source of employment for the farmers. Their children and grandchildren have continued with this industry.
