Irenensee and Spreewaldseen near Uetze, Lower Saxony

Just outside of Hannover, near Uetze, you will find Irenensee with a campsite.

The best way is to go up on the left side, then reach the Spreewaldseen, continue up to the end and then go down on the other side in a clockwise direction.

First impression: a fence for garbage containers with Indian writing. It has something adventurous. Amazing what a bit of writing can do. 🤭

Next, there is an old yellow phone booth converted into a bookshelf.

From there, turn left and you can see the extensive, bright and fresh-looking lake. Simply walk along there and you will constantly experience little adventures. On top of that, everything looks a bit like a Swedish lake landscape.

Then, go through a garden fence and you will be on private property. But don't worry, it is allowed to continue hiking there.

The landscape atmosphere changes suddenly and you see an idyllic wooden bridge leading over a small lake. However, keep to the left and just continue hiking.

And now it is clear why the upper area is called Spreewaldseen. Small rivers cross the wooded landscape and in turn flow into small lakes.

Private owners of houses that sometimes have a Swedish appearance and are directly on the water live there quietly and idyllically. There are many park benches for a break, but my favorite place was definitely under a huge willow tree right at the end of the lake plateau, where you turn to get to the other side.

Just because the landscapes change so quickly, everything is very impressive. And for those who appreciate the little things like a communicative wild goose, butterflies, dragonflies, a shower right by the lake, if you look closer, you will find a lot of exciting things at these lakes.

Back at the large Irenensee, there is also a large sandy beach for hot summer days.
