Sun and beach

With big steps, we are unfortunately already approaching the end of our adventure trip. But we still want to enjoy these last days to the fullest. That's why today we headed south as planned. On the 252km long drive, we crossed numerous bridges and tunnels again, such as the Mastrafjord Tunnel - an underwater tunnel that transports cars from one island to another under the Mastrafjord, with the lowest point being 133m below the sea surface. Norwegians know how to build bridges and tunnels! However, we had to use the car ferry once because no bridge could handle this route - from Arsvagen to Mortavik. This ferry runs every 15 minutes and boarding is quick. Then it takes about half an hour, during which you can enjoy a coffee or admire the view along the way.

We treated ourselves to a cultural stop today, namely in Stavanger. It is also a tourist hot spot, especially because of the cruise ship terminal, but it is much more pleasant, atmospheric, and worth seeing. The first excursion took us to the Petroleum Museum. There, you could learn about the technology and operation of oil extraction and try out many things. An interesting video was also shown, illustrating how an underwater pipeline is installed or what dangers divers face.

After that, we strolled through the pedestrian zone around Stavanger Cathedral, passing by huge cruise ships. A typical Danish hot dog in Norway satisfied our lunchtime hunger.

In the afternoon, our journey through southern Norway took us through many shorter and longer tunnels in a gigantic landscape to the last (?) campsite in Farsund.

Such a beautiful place to end the trip lifts the spirits. A sandy beach at the doorstep, nice neighbors to chat with (Marcus and Bernd), and a magnificent view! The grill devoured the last sausages and now we are comfortably sitting with a beer, ending the evening with Marcus... Tomorrow we will have fresh rolls from the campsite kiosk...
