The first day starts with sleeping in, cozy breakfast and a morning full of errands. At noon we meet Jan, Suse, Tim & Katharina. With the stories of the last dives, Katharina and Laura have become curious about the underwater world and they discuss the procedure of a try dive at the diving base. Then suddenly everything should go very fast. I drive Laura back to the accommodation to get her things for the upcoming first pool session. With a mixture of excitement and haste, we are pushed off the road by a large transporter during an overtaking maneuver. Of course, there is a huge pothole and a lot of gravel right at the spot. We fall and the transporter drives on. Laura is already standing on the roadside in shock, while I am still lying on the ground with my leg under the scooter. The people behind us get out and push the scooter aside. I go to Laura to check if everything is okay and she looks at me with big eyes. 'Your hand is bleeding!' However, it was not the hand, but a torrent of blood was running from my chin. After a quick pat with an old handkerchief, it quickly subsides. In addition, I have two nice abrasions on my leg. Fortunately, Laura was spared. After checking everything, I take Laura for a try dive and meet Jan, Suse & Tim in a beach bar. I reported our event in detail and needed a beer to calm down. After more than an hour, the 3 (medical personnel on vacation) came up with the idea that I should cool my chin, because it is already turning blue. It was only when I was home in the evening and had a mirror that I realized the disaster on my face. I went to the bathroom every few minutes and inspected the damage and loudly complained to myself. So Laura and the other guests in the accommodation got a howling concert from me.
I can well imagine that some of you are throwing your hands up in the air. Yes, I know, riding a scooter in Asia is damn dangerous, buuuut that could have happened at home too. And yes, I will continue to take good care of myself! ♡
