Originally, the plan was to rent a car in Adelaide and drive along the Great Ocean Road. However, we found that the vehicle rentals were very high. Therefore, and because we were told that Adelaide doesn't have much to offer, we tried to change our flight directly to Melbourne in Alice Springs. Unfortunately, this was no longer possible. So we had no choice but to give Adelaide a chance and then take the night bus to Melbourne to do the Great Ocean Road in a day trip from there.
After Brisbane and Cairns, we didn't have high expectations for another Australian city (except of course Melbourne and Sydney). But we were pleasantly surprised. The architecture suited us much better than in Brisbane and on a walking tour, we were told that Adelaide has undergone a huge transformation in the last 6 years. Whether it's with different restaurants, bars, or street art and performances. We definitely felt comfortable in the 3 days. We had the hostel a bit outside in Glenelg, which is right by the sea. Once we also tried our luck at the casino. Maybe there was a chance to improve our travel budget.... of course not. But we had a great evening with a lot of excitement.
Next stop Melbourne. :)
