The last day of our Amazon adventure started very early - partly because the noise level increased significantly, and partly because there was already a slight rumbling in our stomachs. That would haunt us a little bit, but let's start with the beautiful things of the day.
Tearing down the camp was much faster than setting it up, accompanied by the screams of hundreds of macaws and the roars of monkeys - despite the great distance, the noise was truly impressive. After breakfast at the lodge, we went fishing for piranhas. Here, too, we were caught in a heavy rain shower - German raincoats are definitely not made for that!
While holding our fishing rods (a wooden stick with fishing line and hook) out of the boat, Gonzalo jumped into the water to take a short swim - everyone has a different definition of safety 😄. At first, I was more busy feeding the piranhas with the chicken, because they always fed around the hook, but in the end, I managed to pull one out of the water. Unfortunately, Katrin and Hector were not successful, but there was still lunch for everyone 😉
In the afternoon, we had to start our way back. We liked it much more than expected and would have loved to stay longer. But since all our clothes were wet and dirty and our stomachs were rumbling properly, we were not too sad to return to the hostel, take a hot shower, and go to sleep.
We only managed to briefly visit the opera square right next to our hostel and buy some souvenirs, then the day was over for us.
