This morning, the alarm clock rang at 5:30, and I said goodbye to the hostel and made my way to the train station. I received the information that I have to check in my luggage two hours before my ticket to Sydney. Just like with a flight, and the counter closes 30 minutes before departure. So I thought better safe than sorry, and I arrived at the train station 1.5 hours early.
After everything went very quickly, I found myself standing on the platform freezing my butt off (8 degrees, feels like 2 degrees) 🙈. When I finally boarded the train, at least I was greeted with heating.
Well, what can I say, some passengers stored their luggage in the compartments 🙄😂. Now I am richer in experiences, I know that not everything is necessarily true, and I could have saved myself from frozen fingers.
The 11.5-hour journey was very long, but the onboard bistro kept me in good spirits with coffee and chicken pie. And of course, the journey was not in vain, besides lots of nature and large farms, I was rewarded with seeing some kangaroos after 5 hours 🦘😍. The first group was very close to the track, I couldn't take a photo that fast. A little later, I saw more, but it was more like a game of "Where's Waldo" 😂.
Wow, so much land and so few people, these are really large farms and I would say that the animals have a relaxed organic life.
Arriving in Sydney, I took the train to Kings Cross, where my hotel is located directly at the station.
What can I say, I upgraded slightly from the hostel 😅. If I am woken up by jet lag again, I will just use the 24-hour fitness studio.
Tomorrow, I will start exploring the Opera House and Harbour Bridge on foot...
P.S. Doro, I am also using your great diary 😍
