...because only princesses ride pink bicycles. So pink. I bought one today. 90 dollars. Brand new. It's actually a bit small for me, but the selection here isn't that great. I only ride short distances with it and there are no hills in the city. It makes weird noises when I pedal. And I can't figure out how many gears it has. Also, I noticed tonight when I went back to the center, that it doesn't have a light. No helmet, no light - if only luck would come now...
Today, there was no water again for a few hours. I already brush my teeth with 'agua purificada' (purified water), so that's not a problem. For everything else, there's a solution: in the bathroom, there is either a large container or a built-in basin. These are filled with water (although I don't know where this water comes from, as all the other faucets are dry). Then there's a small bowl and you can shower and flush the toilet with it. You wouldn't believe how little water you can get by with.
Today at the project, I was asked if I wanted to meet Manuel's father. For those who paid attention or donated something on my birthday, you know that Manuel is our sponsored child. His older brother was there too. They seemed like they had dressed up specially. We exchanged a few pleasantries. The situation was a bit uncomfortable for me. It was a small thing for each of us to donate a few euros. For Manuel, it means that all expenses, such as school uniforms and pens, notebooks, etc., are paid for. The public schools themselves are free, but everything else has to be paid for. And many fail at that. With the support of the project, he has a real chance of a profession or even a university education. And it relieves the family because he gets to eat five days a week. The donation account number will be displayed again shortly.
It was nice of the two of them to come by.
The photos show, in addition to the royal bicycle, the view from the first floor of the new building in the project. The mountain is the Mombacho volcano.
The landscape looks idyllic, doesn't it? It is. If I ever dare to take pictures in the neighborhood, I'll show you how people live here.
Temperature over thirty, cloudy in the afternoon, no wind.
