We had arranged to meet our tuk-tuk driver from yesterday at 7:30 am. A 4-hour tour through the desert with various stops. Sure, you could also rent a bike and combine it with a walk, but it gets up to 50 degrees Celsius in the shade here - unfortunately, there is no shade anywhere. So, we'd rather be driven around and not have to carry water. The tour was really good and you can see how it looks here in the pictures - really worth seeing 👍. Edgar, explained a lot to us and he's a really nice guy. Yes, his name is really Edgar!
It was probably our last chance to see a snake live - unfortunately, nothing again, which might be better. There are scorpions here too, with the most poisonous type you have a maximum of 20 minutes to get the antidote - hopefully, the tuk-tuk will start 😜
Back at the hostel, we treated ourselves to grilled goat 🐐. For once, we had lunch since we will be in the air at dinner time. After that, we went to our desert neighbor, who has a small pool fed by groundwater. Some cooling down, some sun ☀️, and Julia has already bumped into another fellow student from Medellin.
In the evening, our flight from Neiva with a layover in Bogota to Cartagena was supposed to depart - at least, that was the theory. Unfortunately, the first plane was over 1 hour delayed, so we were already told in Neiva that we would miss the connecting flight in Bogota. Great sausage 🌭! The employee at the provincial airport couldn't (or wouldn't) do more than check us in for the first flight tomorrow morning. No hotel for the night, no upgrade, no compensation - all missing. Even though Julia got upset in Spanish again. Somehow, I have the feeling that her Spanish is better when she's irritated 😠.
During the flight, we prepared a strategy and argumentation chain for the complaint. Goal: at least a free night in Bogota. Strangely, that worked without any further major discussions. Off to one of the better hotels in Bogota and there was even some food included, including dessert 🍨.
