Thanks to our early rising children, we're on the road again early, at 7.30am, and continue driving in the gloomy cold rain. The access to Peyto Lake should be closed for this season, but the road signs don't show any closure, so we simply followed the turnoff like many others. After a short steep hike that even little feet could manage, we enjoyed a gigantic view. Due to the high humidity and constantly changing clouds, we even saw a rainbow.
Nature can be so overwhelming. This now impresses the children as well, and they found it funny to watch the clouds until the lake finally turns "slip ice blue" again. Because now we finally know where that color for the ice comes from. :-))
At Bow Lake, on the other hand, we saw snowflakes. Once again, there was icy wind with a rain shower, and we discovered a few snowflakes in between. We used the rain shower for our lunch break and tried bison chili from the semi-traditional oven.
