Montpellier is the city my family emigrated to in 1966. My father found work there and my parents liked the south. We initially lived in the city. I went to a kindergarten where the language was unfamiliar to me. The customs were also unfamiliar, I still remember sometimes not knowing how to eat. A year later, I learned to write with a fountain pen and inkwell, in French of course. I was left-handed, the ink dripped onto the paper, the language was still unfamiliar to me, not an easy start to school.
