Highlight of the day: It was a fantastic and ideal hiking weather. Nice and cool with plenty of sunshine.
Is it now the season for hiking on the Camino de Santiago? Today, I encountered another hiker, a German. Unfortunately, she was on the phone, so I know she was German. And she didn't have time for a conversation. What a shame!
The past two nights, I had mild toothache. Mild, yet strong enough to keep me awake. Thoughts of giving up crossed my mind. At least finish circling the lake as planned! That was only until Morges today. The loop is only truly complete when I come home from the other side to my front door.
So, persevere René, you have overcome much greater things. And as Caroline said, doing is like wanting, but much more intense. Today's stage was supposed to be 17.7 kilometers. For the many hours available, that was nothing. But once you have toothache and feel feverish, the world looks very different!
So I took it very slowly. So slowly that everyone who saw me almost fell asleep. 🤣😂
But that's how it went well, and I was surprised to see the kilometers adding up. At 8.8 kilometers, I reached the halfway point, and that was worth another screenshot. After all, I already had 50%, so the second half should be achievable too. For a boost of motivation, I called my coach afterwards, and that almost brought back the old energy. When I visited a pharmacy in St. Prex and bought a painkiller, everything was fine again.
Tomorrow, I took a rest day because of the toothache and the approaching rain. Hopefully, everything will be back to normal after that.
On the other hand, there was a lot of sunshine and few clouds or wind, which balanced things out. So, overall, I actually felt great. When I saw a restaurant in Bussigny, I couldn't resist stopping in for a cup of tea. Just before reaching the destination, I rewarded myself with an ice cream.
Since I couldn't find accommodation in Morges, I only walked to the train station to take a bus to Bussigny from there.
The whole stage on Komoot:
