Oulu 1.0

Gepubliseer: 25.09.2018

Last weekend, for the first time, I didn't sleep in my 'own' bed. Which, by the way, is not that bad, because the bed in my room is only 80cm wide... anyway.

A majority of the Erasmus students went to the Kajaani train station on Saturday morning to spend two days in Oulu. The trip was privately planned by individual groups, so we were all staying in different apartments/houses.

I traveled with 9 others, we booked an Airbnb outside the city. It was a one-hour walk from the city center, but it was worth it! (On the way back, we took the bus, which was very comfortable).

We were greeted by a two-story building with a gallery, a huge window front, ten beds, and a sauna.

Oh, and before that, we went to eat pancakes in the city. They were some of the best pancakes I've ever had! Here's mine with chocolate and raspberries 😋

The house we stayed in belonged to a divorced man with two children, who were not home this weekend. Of course, the house also had a sauna, which we enjoyed using in the evening. The sauna even had to be heated with wood. Some of the guys went to the river about 50m away to cool off after the sauna, but the way was too long for us :D The wind is definitely cold enough here.

In the evening, we didn't go to the city anymore, it was already late when we finished using the sauna. But the house was just perfect for us to make ourselves comfortable there.

In addition, there was another highlight later in the evening: Northern Lights. Most of us had already seen them in Kajaani, but I missed them at that time, so I was really motivated to finally see them properly this time. That's why I went out again with Massian around 1 o'clock. I don't want to say much about it, because neither pictures nor words can describe this natural phenomenon. I can only say that it made me incredibly happy.
Here's a picture anyway, even though it doesn't even come close to reflecting what a Northern Light looks like in real life, let alone when it moves. Unbelievable.

The next day was available for us to explore Oulu itself. We did some shopping, especially the shopping center is recommended, and took a walk at the harbor. Of course, we also took some beautiful pictures.

All in all, it was a very nice weekend 😊

And now I'm looking forward to spending time with Lara and Daniel 💕
