Alarm at 7:00 a.m. Today we are going to Florence !
I take the two "little" girls with me and, as is tradition, we park at Piazzale Michelangelo. At Ponte Vecchio there are really only jewelry shops, but hordes of people and many street vendors.
The queue for the dome or cathedral winds around half the cathedral in five rows, i.e. an estimated 100 m. That's too much! So it's a day of shopping for Lisa and Ella: Brandy Melville, Calvin Klein, Puma, La Rinascente and Hard Rock Cafe Firenze. There they have a small beer for the expected, smooth 6.10 and an original burger, and something sweet for the girls.
It's really relaxed there in the arcades, the waiter is putting on a show, but we still have to make our way back to the car, through half the city and up to the parking lot, where a heated car welcomes us. Sweat is spurting horizontally from every pore.
The way home is difficult. I naively follow the satnav, as otherwise we would be on the road for three hours, and it takes us into the hinterland, but eventually onto the Fi-Pi-Li. When we get home we go straight into the pool!
Bettina and Christian were shopping in Pontedera and also bought groceries. In the evening, we had a two-course meal, prepared as always by Christian: meat, this time pork and turkey, with sage and rosemary from the garden and grilled vegetables and tomato pasta and wine - molto bene!
No lawn watering and curfew at 11.
